Checking your connection

The activation key, and the questions that follow from it.

An Account ID names the account and a 16-character activation key opens it, and the key is the only credential the account has.

5 questions about the account. The key is the answer to most of them.

Which of the two identifiers is the secret?
The Account ID is 12 characters, shown as MK-ABCD-EFGH-JKMN, and it is public: quote it when you need to point at your account. The key is 16 characters, it is only ever typed to sign in, and it is the half that is a secret.
Does it matter how the key is typed?
No. What you type is uppercased, I and L are read as 1, O as 0, U as V, and anything outside the alphabet is dropped, so spaces and dashes disappear on their own. MK-ABCD-EFGH-JKMN, mk abcd efgh jkmn and mkabcdefghjkmn are the same identifier.
Does signing in here put the key in the browser?
No. It is sent once to sign in and is written nowhere afterwards: not to a cookie, not to storage, not to the address bar. What the browser keeps is a session token in a cookie the page's own JavaScript cannot read.
Does signing in here use one of the device slots?
No. A browser session cannot carry traffic, and the cap counts the sessions that can. Reading your subscription on this site leaves the apps signed in on your devices exactly as they were.
What if someone else gets the key?
No Morke app and no page here replaces a key today. What stops a key that has got out is deleting the account, and your account page has that control. What comes after is a new account with a new key, not the old one back.

The key's rules in one place. The absences are in it too.

There is no email recovery. Lose the key and the account is gone.

The account carries no address for a reset to go to. The signup screen says the key cannot be recovered before it shows you one, and it will not go on until you confirm you have saved it.

The other questions have their own pages. This page stops at the key.

The home page carries the whole spec table. The features page has the mechanisms behind it. The pricing page has the two plans. The privacy page has the whole list of what is stored, in this browser and on the server.
